Money Manager help
1. Getting started
How do I add an expense or income?
Tap + on Home, choose Expense or Income, pick a category, type the amount and save. A note is optional and can have several lines. To add a transaction for another day, open that day in Calendar and tap Add transaction.
How do I set my starting balance?
On Home, tap your balance (with several accounts, the balance of that account) and choose Adjust balance, then enter the money you really have now. For an account with no transactions yet, this sets its Starting balance. Later, the app adds the difference as a “Balance adjustment” transaction for today, and Reports count it as income or expense.
How do I edit or delete a transaction?
Tap the transaction to open it, change what you need and save, or tap Delete. A deleted transaction can only come back from a backup.
Does Money Manager connect to my bank?
No. You type in each expense and income yourself; the app never connects to a bank.
2. Backup, restore and a new phone
How do I back up my data?
There are two ways, both free:
- Google Drive backup: open Settings › Google Drive backup, sign in with Google, tap Grant Drive access and then Back up now. Turn on Auto-backup to Drive to back up every day.
- Device backup: open Settings › Device backup › Save backup file and choose where to save the file.
How do I move my data to a new phone?
On the old phone, make a fresh backup (Google Drive backup › Back up now, or Device backup › Save backup file). On the new phone, install Money Manager and restore it: in Settings › Google Drive backup, sign in with the same Google account and pick the backup under Your backups, or in Settings › Device backup tap Choose backup file. Pro is restored separately, see Restore Pro.
What is the difference between Merge and Replace?
When you restore, the app asks how. Merge with existing data keeps your current data and adds new items from the backup; when the same item is in both, the newer change wins. Replace all data removes all current data and restores the backup.
Can I undo a restore?
Yes. The app saves your current data before every restore. Settings › Device backup › Undo last restore returns your data to the state before the last restore.
What does a backup include?
Your accounts, transactions, categories and subcategories, main currency, recurring payments and budgets. App settings such as language, theme or month start are not part of a backup; set them again on the new phone. Pro is not in a backup either: it is linked to your Google Play account.
Google Drive backup stopped. What do I do?
The data on your phone is safe. If your Google Drive is full, free up space in Google Drive and backups continue. If Drive access has ended, open Settings › Google Drive backup and allow Drive access again.
Can the app see my other Google Drive files?
No. Money Manager keeps its backups in a folder it creates in your Google Drive and can access only the backup files it creates. You can delete these files in the app or in Google Drive.
Is an exported CSV, Excel or PDF file a backup?
Export files are for reading and sharing. For a full backup that you can restore, use Google Drive backup or Device backup.
3. Accounts and transfers
Can I track cash, card and savings separately?
Yes. Each account has its own balance. Open Settings › Accounts, or tap your account name on Home, and choose Add account. The free version includes a limited number of accounts; with Pro you can open as many as you need.
How do I move money between accounts?
Tap +, choose Transfer, then pick From and To and type the amount. You can add a fee and choose whether the sender or the receiver pays it. The transfer itself is not counted as an expense or income; a fee is recorded as an expense in the Fee category.
Can I see only some accounts?
Yes. With two or more accounts, tap the account name at the top of Home, Calendar or Reports and choose the accounts to show. Home, Calendar and Reports then show only those accounts.
How do I close or delete an account?
Open the account in Manage accounts and tap Close account. Its history is kept and you can reopen it later (in the free version, a reopened account counts toward the number of accounts). If the account still has money, the app asks whether to move it to another account or record it as an expense or income. An account that holds only its starting balance can be removed if you opened it by mistake, and an account can be merged into another account in the same currency. The default account cannot be closed until you make another account the default.
4. Currencies and exchange rates
How do I set my currency?
Pick your main currency when you start, or later in Settings › Main currency. Your balance and totals are shown in it. Setting the currency does not change your amounts.
Can I have accounts in different currencies?
Yes, with Pro: each account can have its own currency, and your balance and totals are shown in your main currency. Without Pro, all accounts use the main currency.
Where do the exchange rates come from?
The app downloads daily exchange rates when the phone has internet. Without a connection it uses the last downloaded rates. Settings › Main currency › Exchange rates shows the rates and when they were last updated.
Can I use my own rate?
Yes. When an amount is in a currency other than your main one (accounts in other currencies need Pro), tap its rate and enter your own. It applies only to that transaction, and you can go back to the automatic rate at any time.
Why don't past months change when rates change?
Every income and expense is counted at the rate of its date, so last month's report stays the same. Account balances use today's rate, because they show what your money is worth now.
Can I change the currency of an account?
Only while the account has no transactions. Otherwise open a new account in the other currency and move the money with a transfer; you can close the old account later.
5. Budgets and the monthly total limit
How do I set a budget for a category?
Open Settings › Plan, tap + and choose Monthly budget. Pick a category and enter its monthly limit. The budget shows what you spent, what is left and how much you are over the limit. The free version includes a limited number of category budgets; with Pro you can add as many as you need.
Can I set one limit for all my spending?
Yes. The monthly total limit in Settings › Plan covers all expenses together. It does not count toward the number of category budgets.
Do budgets follow my month start?
Yes. If your month starts on another day (see Month start), budgets count from that day.
6. Recurring payments and reminders
How do I add a recurring payment, like rent, a subscription or salary?
While adding a transaction, tap the repeat button (↻) and choose Every day, Every week, Every month, Every year or Custom (for example every 2 weeks, with an optional end date). You can also open Settings › Plan, tap + and choose Recurring payment. Transfers can repeat too, and a payment planned for one day only (Doesn't repeat) can be added from Plan. The free version includes a limited number of recurring payments; with Pro you can add as many as you need.
Is a recurring payment added by itself?
If Add automatically is on, it is recorded by itself on its day. If it is off, the payment waits on Home under Pending, where you add it or skip it.
Can the app remind me when a payment is due?
Yes. Turn on Remind me for the recurring payment, and you get a notification on the day it is due.
How do I stop or change a recurring payment?
Open Settings › Plan and tap the payment. Change it and save, or tap Stop; a stopped payment can be turned on again later (in the free version it counts toward the number of recurring payments). Payments already recorded stay as they are.
Can the app remind me to log my expenses?
Yes. Open Settings › Reminders, turn on Daily reminder and choose the reminder time.
Can I turn off the weekly or monthly report notifications?
Yes. In your phone's notification settings for Money Manager, turn off Weekly report or Monthly report. Daily reminder and Payment reminders can be turned off there too.
I don't get reminders. What do I check?
Notifications must be allowed for Money Manager in your phone's settings. If they are off, Settings › Reminders shows “Notifications are off — tap to enable”.
7. Categories, subcategories and icons
Can I customize categories?
Yes. In Settings › Categories you can add a category, change its name, color and icon, hide it or delete it, and change the order. Deleting a category keeps its past transactions as they are.
How do subcategories work?
A subcategory splits a category into smaller parts, like Groceries or Restaurants inside Food. Open a category in Settings › Categories to add subcategories (the app suggests some), or tap New while you choose a subcategory for a transaction. In Reports, open a category and choose By subcategory to see where the money went.
Can I choose my own icons or use emoji?
Every category can have an icon from the built-in set, and you can search icons by name. Pro adds more icons and lets you use any emoji as a category icon. If Pro ends, the icons you already chose stay.
8. Reports and export
What reports does the app have?
Reports show your income and expenses by category, by day and by month, with charts. You can choose this week, last week, this month, last month, 3 months, 6 months, this year, all time or your own dates. Open a category to see it by date or by subcategory. Calendar shows each day's income and expenses.
Can I export my transactions to CSV, Excel or PDF?
Yes. Open Settings › Export (CSV, Excel, PDF), or tap Export in Reports, then choose the period, the accounts and the format. CSV is free. Excel (a sheet of transactions and a summary sheet) and PDF (an A4 report) are part of Pro.
9. Month start, number format and other settings
My salary comes on the 25th. Can my month start on payday?
Yes. Open Settings › General settings › Month starts on and pick a day from 1 to 31. Home, Calendar and Reports then start the month on that day. If you pick 29, 30 or 31, shorter months use their last day.
Can I change how amounts look, like 1.234,56 instead of 1,234.56?
Yes. Open Settings › General settings › Number format. Choose Match app language, or one of 1,234,567.50, 1.234.567,50, 1 234 567,50 and 12,34,567.50.
Can I change the first day of the week or the time format?
Yes. Settings › General settings has Week starts on and Time format (12-hour or 24-hour).
Is there a dark mode?
Yes. Open Settings › Theme and choose Light, Dark or System.
10. Languages
Which languages is the app in?
English, Arabic, Burmese, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Ukrainian, Uzbek and Vietnamese.
How do I change the app language?
Open Settings › Language. The app language can differ from your phone's language.
My language is missing or a translation is wrong. Where do I tell you?
Open Settings › About › Help translate and write which language you need or which text to fix.
11. Pro and purchases
Is Money Manager free?
Money Manager is free to download, and its main features are free to use. Pro is an optional paid upgrade that adds extra features. The app has no ads.
What does Pro include?
- Unlimited accounts
- Unlimited recurring payments
- Unlimited category budgets
- Excel and PDF export
- Accounts in other currencies, with daily exchange rates
- More icons, and any emoji as a category icon
Without Pro you keep recording income and expenses, categories and subcategories, reports and Calendar, CSV export, backups, reminders and the monthly total limit. The app shows what Pro includes before you buy.
Is Pro a subscription or a one-time purchase?
Pro may be offered as a subscription, as a one-time lifetime purchase, or both. The plans and prices for your country are shown in the app before you buy. Google Play handles the payment and shows the payment methods available to you.
How does a free trial work?
If a plan includes a free trial, the app shows its length and the date payments start before you begin. Unless you cancel in Google Play before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription.
I reinstalled the app or changed my phone. How do I get Pro back?
Pro is linked to the Google Play account you bought it with. Make sure Google Play on the phone uses that account, then tap the Pro card in Settings and choose Already bought? Restore. If the app says “No purchase found”, switch Google Play to the account you bought with and try again.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancel it in Google Play: open your subscriptions in Google Play and choose Money Manager. On the Pro screen in the app, Manage subscription opens the same place. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy; see Google Play's refund help. For any other problem with a purchase, write to us with your Google Play order ID.
I bought lifetime, but my subscription still renews.
Buying lifetime does not cancel a subscription. Cancel the subscription in Google Play; Pro stays on with your lifetime purchase. The app also reminds you to cancel it.
My payment is pending, failed or paused.
A pending payment turns Pro on when Google Play confirms it. If a payment failed, update your payment method in Google Play. While a subscription is paused or a payment has failed, Pro may be unavailable; it comes back when the subscription is active again.
What happens to my data if Pro ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your accounts, recurring payments, budgets and icons stay as they are. To add more than the free version includes, or to export Excel or PDF again, you need Pro.
12. Your data and privacy
Where is my financial data kept?
On your phone, in the app's private storage. If you turn on Google Drive backup, backup copies are also kept in your own Google Drive. Backup and export files you save or share yourself go where you send them.
Can you see my amounts and notes?
No. Exact amounts and notes are not included in analytics or crash reports, and we do not store them on our servers. The app shows no ads and does not sell your data. The privacy policy lists what the app collects and why.
Does the app need the internet?
Not to record and view transactions. The internet is used for Google Drive backup, exchange rates, Pro, sending feedback, and analytics, crash and error reports.
How do I delete my data?
Settings › Reset data deletes all accounts, transactions and categories on the phone (the app saves a backup first). Before a reset or a restore, the app keeps a copy of your data in its own storage so you can undo; to remove everything from the phone, uninstall the app or clear its storage. Google Drive backups can be deleted in the app or in Google Drive, and backup files you saved yourself are deleted where you saved them. To delete data kept on our side, such as feedback or purchase records, email us; see Data Retention and Deletion.
13. Contact
How do I contact you?
In the app, open Settings › Write to us; the support ID that helps us find your purchase is added for you. Or email fayzullayev.rasulbek.dev@gmail.com; for a payment question, add your Google Play order ID.
